This is a very fun project that many of my colleagues like to talk about. What will we see as the top trends for 2016. Some trends are actually revived trends of weddings pasts, and others are completely new trends that have never been seen before. Either way it is a exciting venture to see what brides are coming up with to make their huge day one that is unique and will forever be remembered.
... Our Prediction's on the top 10 Wedding Trends For 2016 Are...
1. Wedding Color's
2016 is a very predictive year when it comes to colors. So far, we have already seen a trend in wood & metallic colors such as silver, platinum, gold, copper, bronze and other modern style weddings. For the more adventurous, country feel we have noticed a wood and burlap colors, and of course our fun and outgoing personality brides are going with the bright vibrant colors. Red's are still in and purple is making another come back after a 4 year lull. Coral, Orange & Teal have made a huge comeback according with sources at the local bridal dress store.
2. Non Matching Bride's Maids Dresses...?
Yeah, you heard right. No one needs to match! Ok, maybe on the same color scheme, but many brides are starting to realize, that if you have happy girls in your bridal entourage, you will be happy too and many ladies come in many different shapes and sizes. So comfort is a small token of gratitude for them standing up for you. The days of the ugly wedding dresses are disappearing such as the dresses seen the movie, 27 Dresses.
Now days, ladies are turning to more modern and practical dresses. In many cases, the dresses will be the same colors, but not the exact same style. Another bride's maid dress trend is same style, but different shades of the same color so there is still a bit of color coordination.
3. V-Necks & Lace.
According to Glamour Weddings, V Necks and open backs are the rage of the bridal fashion runways right now. As a husband, seeing my wife in a V neck line with an open back is, well... it's just damn right beautiful. So we are definitely going to agree with Glamour.com on this prediction. However, we are going to disagree on the whole lace wedding dresses. We I don't believe that will catch on as much as everyone is raving about. We feel that its too 1840's. Regardless, it does have a bit of an old vintage feel to it. So, if you are going for that vintage swing feel, then that may be the way you choose. However, for a budget friendly bride, this may not be so friendly to your budget.
4. Animated Monograms, Cake Mapping & Wall Mapping.
This is a new technology that has hit the mid-west with in the last year, and it is a trend that is climbing in popularity and demand. Imagine, your cake being completely animated with your names and date and even pictures or splashes of colors moving and interacting with the environment around it. Animated cakes, also known as cake mapping, is the ability of taking a projector and creating graphics to project on to the cake. It creates a whole new unique aspect of the cake and kids will stare intently on it trying to decide wither to watch or eat it. Animated Monograms are also becoming a new and more affordable option instead of the large monograms that many venues offer now. With Digital Animated Monograms. This can do exactly as previously mentioned about the cake, but on a wall instead. The same images on your cake can also be projected on to the wall where the monogram is. This is now a new and ingenious way to also sneak in that slide show with out actually having a slide show. The images and graphics are only limited to the experience and graphic design skill of the company you work with.
Finally, the last and most newest technology to hit the wedding scene is Head table/Wall Mounting or also known as Animated Backdrops. This is the same technique as cake mapping and Animated Monograms, but with the back drop instead. The projector is set at an angle to prevent the light projecting on to the bride and groom, but still able to have the entire back drop become one large banner, or maybe a fairy tail scene from your favorite movie. Or as one option we did was to create a video of the Brides Dad who recently passed away, standing behind her, so she could have a picture with her dad on her wedding day. The options are endless to your imagination.
5. Theme Weddings.
This is a trend that has never truly gone away. Wither it's Bling and Glam to Country. Themed weddings are always fun to be a part of and is a great way to show 2 individual styles uniting into one cohesive theme. But we predict that the themes are going to become even more extravagant and interesting with in the year. More and more brides are looking for that extreme themed wedding. From foot ball teams to favorite movies, soon over the top theme's will become a more elaborate and more regular occurrence for 2016.
6. Alternative Reception Times.
Recently, we have been hosting weddings receptions from early morning to mid day. Same concept as a evening wedding reception but during the earlier part of the day. This saves many clients money because they are using time slots that are not normally used during the week or day. Some have done a early sunrise ceremony, which is more intimate with just a few guest and have a breakfast or brunch wedding. We have also noticed a increase to Thursday and Sunday Night weddings. Especially with holiday weekends. I do foresee that these alternative wedding times will be an increasing trend, especially with smaller more intimate weddings.
7. Out Door Wedding Receptions & Ceremonies
Every year, it seems more and more couples are using mother nature as the back drop of their wedding reception. Of course, weather is always a factor and sometimes, the weather causes a bit of turmoil, but the breathtaking photo's and memories of an out door wedding is so unique that it is unparalleled to any venue can provide. Plus, with an outdoor wedding, you don't have to pay the outrageous catering fee's that many fancy venues imply upon you just for having your wedding at their venue.
8. Pork loin and Chicken
Beef... It's no longer for Dinner. At least at weddings. With the rising costs of beef, the most logical choice is to go with chicken or pork. However, another alternative has been taco bars, spaghetti and pasta bars to even a extravagant Mongolian grill/Chinese buffet. Many guest are tired of constantly having Chicken cal don Blu. Yeah, it's good, but there got to be something more than just chicken cal don Blu.
Photo Booths, A Blast From The Past!
Remember those enclosed photo booth from the arcade or the mall. Well, now they are back and in full force at weddings across the nation. It is an EVER GROWING popularity at weddings. The cost efficiency and just the pure guest enjoyment is absolutely an absolute requirement to have at your wedding.
10. Feathers... Seriously? Feathers...
Ok, so actually, after looking online at some of the few trends that are building momentum. Feathers are becoming more and more of a trend. It may not take off directly in 2016, but I do believe by 2017, many brides will have incorporate some sort of feather into the wedding. From feathers on the dress, in the hair or in the decorations, there will be feathers. Just hope no one is allergic to birds. If so, don't worry, there are now companies devoted to synthetic feathers. So brides, don't dismiss that dress with feathers all around the skirt, cause you may actually come to like it. Let's just not let it go to far to the birds.
